Burda Plus patterns 13 new patterns

I like the cape and the tshirt. ------ Marilyn January 2009 to January 2010 81 yards out and 71yards in January 2010 to the present 106.7 yards out and 146.5 yards in. January 2011 to the present: 47 yards out and 69 yards in.

When it arrived I thought that if the clothes look shapeless and baggy on the stunning model, they have a problem. Nothing is going to look good on everyone, of course -- I'm top heavy so I would NEVER touch those high pleated neckline tops, but a plus-size pear might like them. But there's hardly ANYTHING with any shape in this set, and everything's cut so loose that whatever shaping there is is lost anyway. Even the more fitted dress at the end, though I think it's gorgeous, there's so much loose fabric over the hip and stomach you could very easily look pregnant. ------ http://sewingnovice.blogspot.co.uk/ One woman. I don't know if she's plus-sized or not, I'm guessing not, but in any case the clothes are too big for her. If she filled them out more it would look a lot more flattering. I like the lines of the dress and the pants and can imagine if they fit well they would be flattering. ------ I've moved! No shape, necklines falling in pleats from my neckline, straight lines down the body with no shape. The pants are okay, but the rest-blah. Why do most pattern designers presume plus sized woman want shapeless clothes? Depending on your body type, different styles work better on different woman of course. But shapeless isn't flattering on anybody. And one that does have shape-that funky skirt-have shape that most women would find hard to wear. When the skinny model doesn't look good in the clothes, it's a bad sign. Speaking of models, could they please use a larger sized model? What looks good on a 12/14 looks completely different on my size 24 self. Mary

That was a fashion rule my mother taught me -- if it's not flattering on the model, don't get it. I don't know why companies so often think larger sizes should be tent-like. I remember once on Project Runway, one of the designers designed a tent-like thing for a plus model because he was visibly put off by the woman's shape and wanted to camoflage it somehow. That's the message these oversized things always give me -- muu muu revisited. Burda can do better, and often they do. They sometimes come out with gorgeous fitted plus sized dresses, for example.
