Block interfacing vs. underlining?
Which technique would be better for a loosely woven tweed?

I have a loosely woven tweed that I'd like to use to make a (lined) jacket in the coming months. I would like to add some body and stability to the tweed fabric and was trying to decide whether a block interface fuse or underlining would be better.

It seems like both of these techniques tend to serve the same purpose. Would one be more appropriate for my jacket than the other? (If it makes a difference, I live in SoCal where it gets cool and not extremely cold, and I'm intending for this jacket to be an "everyday" sort of jacket.)

Opinions?

Michelle, I would try a sample of both ways. Depending on how loosely woven the tweed is I would probably go with block fusing before cutting to not only stablize but keep from raveling (unraveling?). But that may stablize too much for your liking so....try a sample of both to see what feel you like
