Just think of making something super-stupid-simple out of elastic and getting over $200,000 in orders for it!

Add kickstarter and hope for $10,000... and wind up with over $200,000!!!
OMG.. I could get an Ellisimo, a Janome 12000, a Bernina 830LE, a 10 needle Babylock .... and still have over $150,000 to buy elastic.

Date: 9/25/12 6:09 PM The title of this post is right on. I can get a large roll of 2" elastic for $5 in the garment district. Not sure the yardage but the roll is 9-10" in diameter. Would make lots and lots of wallets.
Good for them for coming up with the idea. One day I hope to hit pay dirt. ------

.... to the point that they think they can really do it with this wallet.
Oh... and term *wallet* is very loosely applied!

The pre-orders bit is exactly right and currently Kickstarter is trying to crack down on people using the site as more of a shopping experience rather than a chance to invest (and understanding all the risks involved in that). There was a blurb about it on npr.org just the other day.
It's cute and functional and people who do not sew won't want to make one so they are willing to buy it. Anthropologie and a ton of craft sellers are selling fold over elastic tied in a knot as headbands.
Same difference! Good for these gentlemen. They are filling a niche I would not have thought of. That's how fortunes are made. If they follow through with a good business plan, they may do quite well (even if these just end up in stores like 5 Below and other discount novelty shops).
