OK...

To keep this on-topic (and boy, it's a streeeeetch) ... (pun intended) ....

Just think of making something super-stupid-simple out of elastic and getting over $200,000 in orders for it!

Elastic Item

You're gonna kick yourself when you see what these two guys are selling.

I can't say more... till you look at this!

Well, they raised over 200k to start a company making these things. I guess there are a lot of people out there that need someone to sew a strip of elastic closed for them to hold their important debit/credit cards...forget using cash...

Do you believe it?!?!?!?!?

Did you scroll all the way down to see how they did 9 months of testing?

Look at that pic... omg

7" of elastic with 2 seams. Voila!

Add kickstarter and hope for $10,000... and wind up with over $200,000!!!

OMG.. I could get an Ellisimo, a Janome 12000, a Bernina 830LE, a 10 needle Babylock .... and still have over $150,000 to buy elastic.

LOL

The title of this post is right on. I can get a large roll of 2" elastic for $5 in the garment district. Not sure the yardage but the roll is 9-10" in diameter. Would make lots and lots of wallets.

Good for them for coming up with the idea. One day I hope to hit pay dirt.

Come up with a great product and go for it!

Apparently a lot of people thought their contributions (which basically amount to pre-orders) were worth what they would receive. More power to them!

I guess the mind blower for me is that there are over 6,000 people that saw this thing and have a strong desire to *not* carry any cash.....

.... to the point that they think they can really do it with this wallet.

Oh... and term *wallet* is very loosely applied!

The pre-orders bit is exactly right and currently Kickstarter is trying to crack down on people using the site as more of a shopping experience rather than a chance to invest (and understanding all the risks involved in that). There was a blurb about it on npr.org just the other day.

It's cute and functional and people who do not sew won't want to make one so they are willing to buy it. Anthropologie and a ton of craft sellers are selling fold over elastic tied in a knot as headbands.
Same difference! Good for these gentlemen. They are filling a niche I would not have thought of. That's how fortunes are made. If they follow through with a good business plan, they may do quite well (even if these just end up in stores like 5 Below and other discount novelty shops).

Wow!! Just wow! I wonder how many I could sew in an hour. Two seams and seven inches of elastic.

Take a look at this project.
It's fully funded. There truly is something for everyone out there.
