I hope this is the right place to post this. I have some gorgeous Burgundy wool/poly/doubleknit from G Street Fabrics that's been aging in my stash for years. It's a nice weight and I was wondering if anyone has ever made a coat from a doubleknit? I plan to line it. I'm thinking of what used to be called a *car coat* - remember those

Sounds like a pretty comfy coat! I haven't come across anything like this as of yet. I will keep an eye on this post to see what everyone comes up with!

I, personally, have not, but I've seen several made from ponte fabric in catalogs, and I really want one. Let us know how it turns out!!

I made Stretch-and-Sew 1025 in fleece a while back -- no review posted because I had "technical problems" (read lack of experience making for poor outcome working with fleece). Technical problems aside, though, the pattern went together well and would have been really cute had I not had problems with the combined thickness/stretchiness of the fabric. A quick check showed that the pattern's available on Etsy (and probably Ebay, as well) at a reasonable price, if you find it interesting (I have no relationship with the seller below; it's just for illustrative purposes :)).

I have made this pattern also - I made it as a shearling coat. Read super warm and quite bulky!

I would agree this would make up really nicely in a double knit type fabric if it is a style you like.

I've seen that pattern before, but the more I think about it, I'm leaning more toward a cape, although a swing coat isn't entirely out of the picture. Since I fell last night and fractured my left lower arm/wrist, my sewing/needlework projects will be on hold for a while. Thanks for all your suggestions.
