This fabric is driving me nuts!

I've tried shorter and longer straight stitches and a slight zigzag and can not get a smooth looking seam! They end up a bit puckery for lack of a better word. Shorter seam lengths are fine. It's the long ones that I'm having problems with and I'm making pants so they're a bit unavoidable! The only thing I haven't done is gone straight to the serger.

Yes I cut on the cross grain.

What am I missing? And of course I wanted these done by tomorrow. Hrmph!

Have you pressed yet? Are you sewing bottom-to-top?

Yes on the bottom to top sewing.

I've tried pressing w/a press cloth and prressing w/added steam via a spray bottle. Looks ok on the ironing board but as soon as you move it the puckers are there again!

The only thing you are missing is the one thing you haven't done, use your serger. I sew stretch bengaline like it's a stretch knit fabric. HTH
