Date: 9/30/12 1:44 AM My Singer Anniversary 160 has locked up. While sewing a straight stitch the machine suddenly stopped with the needle in the down position. When something like this happens, the machine will beep at you and stop so you don't break a needle or whatever. However, I could not turn the flywheel to raise the needle. Thinking that the jammed fabric was preventing it from turning, I have to take the needle off and remove the bobbin, etc. to get the fabric out. Needle would still not go up. I took the bobbin and case apart to look for fabric scraps or anything else that might be preventing the flywheel from turning all the way around. Nothing. It ill move back and forth a little bit but will not go all the way around. The rod lever that holds the needle will not go up. any ideas? I will get in touch with Singer since still under warranty but I live over 100 miles away from a warranty center so just thought I would run it by you wonderful people to see if this is a simple fix.
