sweater knit skirt? It's getting cold outside!

I know it's totally unfashionable, but I'd really like to have a warm, soft, thick, knit skirt to wear this winter. Any suggestions for a pattern, a fabric, or method of sewing?

I'm therfore going with a skirt - I think it will look really great with boots. Of course, this now means I have to go shopping for a purple turtleneck sweater and am unlikely to find one in the right color!

It is drafted for stretch wovens and heavier weight knits, which seems perfect for a sweater knit! Gorgeous Fabrics and Emma One Sock have some nice sweater knits in stock right now. I think I'm going to go with an ankle length skirt (so as to try and avoid the egg with legs look), but I'll definitely check out those sewing guides!

Date: 10/2/12 1:50 PM Haberman's Fabric has a sweater knit front/fleece back fabric that keeps haunting me. I didn't like any of the colors (blah neutrals and a green that wasn't great on me), but I was looking for shirts, not skirts. It was $12 or $13 per yard, I think.

Knits comes with finished selveges. I just cut a rectangular piece w selvedge along length, serged the edges together and added elastic to a roll down waistband. It either looks good or weird b/c I do get alot of looks when I wear them.
