Date: 9/30/12 5:49 PM I really want a sweater knit skirt. I know it's totally unfashionable, but I'd really like to have a warm, soft, thick, knit skirt to wear this winter. Any suggestions for a pattern, a fabric, or method of sewing? |

I might try a dark heathered polarfleece. One with a dry 'hand' to hopefully reduce the static electricity problem....
Or maybe with a rayon lining? Hmmm. ------ blog: goodworks1.wordpress.com

Date: 10/1/12 3:34 PM I have an argyle sweater knit that I was considering for a dress, but I think the print will just be too much. I'm therfore going with a skirt - I think it will look really great with boots. Of course, this now means I have to go shopping for a purple turtleneck sweater and am unlikely to find one in the right color! |

Date: 10/1/12 3:56 PM The Magic Pencil Skirt by Pamela's Patterns comes to mind. It is drafted for stretch wovens and heavier weight knits, which seems perfect for a sweater knit! Gorgeous Fabrics and Emma One Sock have some nice sweater knits in stock right now. If you go to Emma One Sock's website she has a link to sewing guides in that left navigation, and there's a couple of them for sweater knits. ------ -- Anne

Date: 10/1/12 9:49 PM Thank you so much for the advice. I think I'm going to go with an ankle length skirt (so as to try and avoid the egg with legs look), but I'll definitely check out those sewing guides! |

Date: 10/2/12 2:16 PM You'll have to line it to avoid the "butt-sprung" look. Of course if you never sit down in it, this would not apply. ------ Sewing is my therapy! |

2 members like this. Date: 10/2/12 4:58 PM I have made two using missoni knit from emmaonesock. Knits comes with finished selveges. I just cut a rectangular piece w selvedge along length, serged the edges together and added elastic to a roll down waistband. It either looks good or weird b/c I do get alot of looks when I wear them. |
