I just got this machine today and I love what it is doing so far. But I cannot get the auto needle threader to work!

I can see that something is coming through the needle eye the way it should but I do not understand how the thread is supposed to hook onto that and be pulled through. When I try to follow the manual instructions everything works the way it says except that the thread just laughs and does not go through.

I am almost wondering if something is broken on it because I just do not see any way for the thread to grab onto the thingy that comes through the needle.

Any help appreciated please!! I hate threading needles and this is one thing I was looking forward to. LOVE the thread cutter! And it makes such beautiful stitches and it is sooooo quiet!

Edited to add: I tried to find a video on it but no luck.

So glad you received your new machine! I don't have one of these so maybe someone who does can chime in. I have a Janome 6600. To get the threader to work I have to do a needle up/down and the threader has a little metal piece towards the back of the threader-the dealer showed me this or I probably would not have seen it-I never would have caught the thread in that little piece. I am wondering if it is something like that. Can you post a picture? How do you like it so far?

One of two possibilities: (1) the threader will not work on small sized needles (2) the threading wire is broken or bent and not catching the thread.

Get a magnifying glass and look at the configuration of the threader wire. There is a hook pin to catch the thread and pull it through.

Lay a thick towel behind the machine so you can tip it back for a good look.

If you cannot get it to work, call your Singer dealer and ask if they can take a look while you wait. That way you do not have to leave the machine and make two round trips to the dealer.

Woohoo! I just got it to work!

I was really starting to think there was a piece broken off, but apparently it is just not coming forward quite enough. I sort of pushed it from the back to make it come through the needle more and then it worked. It was coming through the eye but not enough apparently.

That is NOT something I would want to do all the time though! I wonder why it might be doing that.

Thanks Marie! I am really loving him so far. I just ordered a bunch of extra bobbins and needles for him so he will be all stocked up.

I was also glad to discover that my two sergers both take the same needle. So I got some extras of those too. Hopefully I won't need any needles for awhile because they are sure hard to find around here.

I have two Janomes with automatic needle threaders and I find they do this same thing if the needle is inserted incorrectly. It can be just a tad off, such as the flat side is a little too forward, and this problem will occur.

I just got this machine and love it. I had the same problem with my threader my husband fixed it and I haven't had any more trouble. The only thing I don't like so far is the odd basting stitch. I hope your problem is solved for good.

That's great that you got it to work. I figured it must be something simple. That's good that your serger and sm take the same needles. The fact that my Brother serger takes regular sewing machine needles was a plus for me. It is nice not to have to worry about different needles for different machines. Have fun playing, take some pictures and start a new thread to show it off. There are not many really good machines in this price range so I am sure many of us would like to know more about it!

I just got this machine as well and I am in love!! Will do a review once I have used it for a while. As to threader, it works like so many others, I find it easier to clip my thread so it is not frayed and thread the needle normally :-)

Can you share what your husband did to fix it? That would be a huge help!

Marie, sorry no, my SM does not take the same needles as my serger, its my two sergers that take the same needles.

Is one of the sergers a coverstitcher too? If you answered that I think I missed that. A coverstitch will be my next purchase.
