Date: 10/7/12 8:34 AM I just recently checked out Threads Magazine and saw the Insider page. It's a subscription you have to pay for. Is it worth it. I get the paper magazine already. Any thoughts... |

Date: 10/7/12 8:51 AM I have it but since the Insider part just started fairly recently I haven't seen much. For me, based solely on what's come out so far it probably won't be worth it but for someone who is more advanced at sewing it might be. I'll give it more time though before I decide. ------ Linda

Having the Insider allows me to watch all the videos that Threads has put out, either on my computer or my iPad, and I don't have to buy the videos. Some of the videos I will buy later, but right now while funds are short it is nice to have access to them. Also the ability to read all the articles online is nice.

I am a print subscriber and an insider, and I like the magazine to get my creative juices flowing. Their how-to articles are a little lean for my taste--I'm not that much of an expert, to make easy use of them.
I find the Videos to be Very Helpful, and I think it's totally worth it for the $12.50/yr subscription to the online website (Insiders), if only because I get easy access to their entire video library! So, I don't have to buy their "Teach Yourself to Sew" series, because I get it on demand and as much as I need/want.
Here are some screenshots of the videos available:

I'd rather save the $99.95 for the archive DVD and the $225 for all the videos they offer, and just go for the $12.95 yearly subscription. Since they put the most popular articles on the website (and the videos, which you don't get in the DVD archive), it seems a better deal. I'd have to subscribe online for 25 years to make the DVDs a better deal.
OTOH, if you really want all the articles, and are content buying the videos for an extra $225, go for it. I can understanding wanting everything, rather than what they choose to place on the site.

Date: 10/8/12 11:45 AM As others have said, I think it's well worth the low annual fee.
FYI, on the annual DVD archive, after you buy it the first time, you can get the yearly updates for about $25 (I think that's what it was last year). The yearly update includes all the issues, you just pay less because you already bought the initial one.

I get the paper mag, which I give away at my local sewing club at the end of the year when the digital archives are release. I bought the online subscription as well, but I couldn't find the videos... and then got so busy I forgot all about it!
and now I know where to find them... so THANK YOU!!!
again, PR saves the day. You guys are great! |

Date: 10/9/12 7:40 AM I've enjoyed my Insider subscription. However, I'm wondering if the $12.95 is just an introductory offer and the price will go up to renew. They're not clear on this. |
