Online Fabric in Canada
stitchie77   Advanced QC CANADA Member since 11/26/08 Posts: 7	Login to reply to this post Like this post Date: 10/7/12 4:03 PM Hi everyone, I've looked several times online for fashion fabric to purchase online in Canada, but haven't been able to find a good source - in the past, I have purchased from both Fabric Mart and Fabric.com, but shipping has always been in the $30-$40 range. I have simple needs: solid cotton jersey for tops and dresses, mainly. The occasional US order for fancier stuff is fine, but it would be nice to be able to order a couple of meters of a basic fabric without feeling like I need to make it worth my while by purchasing more than I need. Any ideas? Veronik

Hopefully that'll improve the service problems they've had the last few years, but since they're no longer Canadian-based that doesn't help with your query. ------ I've moved! I'll probably email them. Warning: one of those suppliers doesn't seem to be what it appears to be (HAKA -- something to do with sewing furniture, whatever that means). It's not exactly dreadful, but totally unrelated, and I'm really wishing I hadn't clicked the link. It's not your fault -- the name of the company just sounded interesting, so I checked it out. Maybe their site got hacked. The Fabricland where I live is really good, IMO -- much lower prices than online, and very well run. I've been avoiding them for over a year -- didn't have a membership this year and haven't missed it. The last time I was in there to buy a spool of thread to finish a project I had to hunt down a staff person to put me through the till -- after I rang their service bell (I was the only customer in the store and there were 3 staff people stocking notions). I am lucky to have several independents locally although they are all further away than 2 of the Fabriclands. It takes a little more planning but I personally don't need the aggravation of shopping at Fabricland. stitchie77, you could try Peak Fabrics in Calgary -- they carry a pretty good variety of stretch and technical fabrics and they quality is very good (they often have roll ends from designers/athletic wear companies). -- Edited on 10/8/12 12:28 PM -- ------ Sheila "sewing very slowly to fill an empty closet" 2012/2013 Stash Busting Sew-Along: 27.25 yards sewn (as of 05/15/13) 21.75 yards purchased (as of 05/15/13)
