Date: 10/18/12 3:22 PM I'm visiting in Richmond, VA. I searched PR for fabric stores in the area and only one came up - Couture by LK Designs. An google search yielded Silk Trading Co. I'm convinced there is more to offer than those two stores and Joann/Hancocks. Can anyone offer recommendations for fabric shopping in the Richmond area? ------ I sew, therefore I am.

Date: 10/18/12 5:57 PM I wish for someone to mention a new fabric store in Richmond because I want to go next time I visit Virginia!
Couture by LK Designs is a really nice little shop. They have a small selection of lovely apparel fabrics. My favorite part of that shop is the button selection, lots of fabulous buttons that are priced individually and kept in drawers so you can pull out and trial buttons on your project or fabric right there.

Date: 10/22/12 8:00 PM Sorry I'm late to this question, but I just saw it. I live in Richmond, and unfortunately there really isn't anything other than the stores you named. There are a couple of good quilt shops (Quilter's Corner and Quilting Adventures), but not much for fashion fabric. Sorry I don't have better news for you! |

Date: 11/1/12 8:09 AM I'm also late to this post, sorry. There is a little place on Robinson St. called U-fab. They are mostly home dec, but I think worth a look see. Some of our Wal-marts are slowly getting the bolt fabric back. We have a Joanns and a Hancocks on Broad St. and both are also on Midlothian. Quilting Adventures is also on Broad St. If you are feeling like a road trip, there is a little place in Tappahannock(about 50 miles east)called Sew Happy. I love that place I've never been to the Silk Trading Company(hate driving down town). I was told a few years back, that the place(and material) smelled like smoke, because the owner smoked cigarettes in the store ... ewww. That was enough to keep me away. |
