I found an elnapress 2000 for sale online. It is about 10 years old. Just wondering if it is the kind of thing you can buy used or if it would be better if I bought it new instead. The seller is asking 150 $ for it and I was thinking about offering 120$. All opinions and ideas welcome!

I am honestly not sure about buying one used. If there is some sort of return or refund option it might be okay. I would want to be sure it heated up and stayed hot. Think of how irons act when they go bad, you don't want that with a press.

FWIW I love my Elnapress that I purchased last year I wanted one for over 20 years and finally did it. I never want to be without one again!

I love my Elna press, too and it is about 20 years old, but definitly get a guarentee that it works properly.

So what did you decide to do?

If it were me, I'd be comfortable buying it if you could fire it up and make sure she works. :)

I had one in the 80's that I parted with in the late 90s when I moved.

Just bought the Opal this summer then traded it up to get the sexy red one. I love these... :)

I also bought a brand spankin new-in-the-box Alize (discontinued about 2 years ago by what I was told)... for $50 on Craigslist. The thing had never been turned on. The ad was poorly written so most people that sew would never have seen it. I turned around and wrote a better ad and sold it for $225 a week later. :)

One more thing... if its not too late... do a little internet digging around. Seems there is a Singer and an Artistic brand of these out there these days for sale for *a lot* less than what Elna is getting for theirs.

On my radar someday: Babylock Serger, and some machine for travel.

My dearest wish is to have Bernina come out with a machine that doesn't give me a reason to *not* buy it.

2012: New Elna Lotus (mostly for granddaughter), Red Elna Press, Horizon 7700, Gidget 2 Table, Babylock Ellisimo Gold
