One of my Yahoo groups mentioned BFC thread and I took a look at the website and was pretty intrigued. Has anyone ever used this thread before? It is a poly, but I guess the way it's spun offers some kind of benefit similar to rayon (less stretching, higher sheen, etc). They have about as many colors as Madeira rayon and you can get an entire set for only $600 or so.

Has anyone used this? If so, what did you think?

Here is the link.

I've used lots of Polyester embroidery thread before. Your website listed just does not show you a picture of the thread spools, (and I think that is done like that on purpose there) so without that, you can't tell what thread company makes it. Because they don't make it at all, it's made in a thread factory someplace instead. And of course they just buy it from someone whom buys it from there. And probably a thread factory that makes both commercial thread on large put up cones and smaller spools too.

But if you saw a picture of the thread spools, then you really could probably tell whode thread it is, what factory it came out of, and whom makes it. Just because of the shape, and size and color of the thread spools, even if not a label most times. So if you want to know whom else uses it, probably lots of people, someplace, no matter what factory it comes from, or whose thread it is, but they would never know most times, as your web site listed seems to be trying to hide and keep secret the name and brand and factory the thread comes out of for some reason.

Maybe they do that, as they don't want people to get it someplace else or make price comparisons or something like that, I don't know? I think informed is most times better than uninformed though.

I do think that is a bit weird right there maybe. I don't think I would ever order a whole ton or a whole lot of thread, without knowing the factory it comes out of and also without even seeing a picture of a thread spool or cone on it at all, but that is just me.

Hi beauturbo...I'm not sure I understand your post. There are pictures of the thread spools on their website, and I'm not sure if I could determine what factory any thread comes from. I mean, I ordered a whole stash of Metro Thread and I love it.....and I have no idea what factory it came out of and I wasn't really that worried about it. All I'm concerned about is if the thread performs well.

I'm really just curious if anyone out there has ordered specifically from BFC stash and used their thread and what their experience hs been. So if there is anyone that has used or heard of other's experience, let me know!

O.K. I see that now. I now have heard of their thread, someplace else too, as I believe it's this Ametcotex thread from Amecotex Textile Co., Ltd in China

That manufacturer's web site is here if you want to see it, and they do make large commercial cones of thread too. And have a huge factory.

http://www.amecotex.com/index.html

Notice the bobbin fill small cones are the same put up and in red plastic. The polyester thread cones are the same white plastic put up. The add copy of the description of the threads is exactly the same on both websites too, word for word on the type of thread description.

I would just try some. I actually think all embroidery thread coming from any large factories is good thread, if it was not, no one could afford to even run the factory. As there would be no sales then even. I have not tried that exact Ametcotex kind, but all the other kinds/brands I have tried, and that is maybe another 10 kinds or so have all been good. And I actually use all sorts and brands and even mix them up all together in the same embroidery designs too. I actually think the only "bad thread" is if it gets way too old, or maybe gets exposed to too much sun or dust. And that usually happens at your house after you get some thread anyways. And that is not a brand specific thing at all, just could happen to any thread.

Maybe some one else has heard of and actually sewing with Ametcotex thread?

Considering the level of designs BFC does I doubt they would sell a shabby product.

I agree with quiltingwolf. If you have questions about BFC thread you might want to consider e-mailing Suz (owner of BFC). My experience has been that she always responds promptly to any questions. I haven't used their new thread yet. They used to carry Admelody which I liked a lot. I can't imagine them carrying an inferior product. Their customer service is excellent.

I have used their thread - bought the 1100 yd spools - it performs well, and my Pfaff Sensation does beautifully with it.

Hi - I'm sure i'm very late posting a reply but I just joined this site. It sounds interesting! I was browsing and wanted to tell you more about my thread. I do buy directly from the manufacturer and this is my own brand. It is not another brand that I OEM. I originally sold Admelody thread which I really liked, but they no longer sell to the US. So - I went out to find a good manufacturer to make the thread and the colors i wanted, Please feel free to ask any quesitons anytime!
Thankyou - Suz

I usually use Marathon poly thread for embroidery but did buy a special kit I think it was fall colors of the BFC thread. I've been pleased with it so far.

Excellent customer service from Suz always. I've bought several design sets from her.
