So I went to a retreat last weekend.... sure made me appreciate my Horizon!

I sure appreciate how smooth and quiet my Janome is. My roommate was fighting with an old Singer she had just gotten from her mom. Poor thing! Early on the first day, I didn't know she was totally new to sewing - and on that machine! Anyway.. each time she went to piece something - I'd hear her go from zero to pedal to the metal in 1/2 second! A few hours later - after she couldn't figure out how to wind the bobbin - we learned that she wasn't doing that speed on purpose but the speed control didn't exist. It was *off* or *on full speed* with nothing in between! I bought the low tension bobbin case for doing free motion... but didn't really give a good try - yet. I got all derailed and side tracked by a few cute projects instead. Gotta go pick up my granddaughter from school...
