Date: 10/24/12 10:02 PM Hello,
I have heard that the Singer 401 can do Overcast stitch with the number 22 fashion cam. I have not been able to find any info on this and the manual does not say anything about the 22 fashion cam. Do you guys know if this is true or not?
Also, can the 401 use fashion cams made for the 500, 600 and 700 series?
Thanks |

Date: 10/25/12 8:51 AM I have the 401 and I use the overcast foot and Cam 22 frequently. It works great with no issues.
The 401 can use all of the Black Top Hat fashion cams. The Basting Cam will operate as a blind hem and will not actually be a true basting stitch (that's for the 640 & 645 only, I believe). The White Top Hat cams from the 700 series will NOT work in the 401, as there is no automatic reverse in the feeding system.
Hope this helps!
