What is the problem when a shirt wants to slide backward? Do I need a rounded shoulder alteration? A forward neck? It happens just with regular movement (in addition to when I reach overhead and then put my arms down), and I feel like I'm fidgeting all day by constantly pulling the shirt back down in front. Any help would be appreciated!
Try the rounded shoulder alteration. That works for me.
The core issue is that there is not enough fabric in the back of the garment to both cover the back and to supply wearing ease. As you move around, the back of the garment "steals" fabric from the front to supply the wearing ease that you need over your back.
Once I read this explanation in my internet wanderings, I finally understood my experience with garments that want to slip backwards and choke me, and that need constant adjusting to pull the front of the shirt down. Just moving the shoulder seam around, or changing the armhole don't seem like good solutions -- for me. I need to actually add more fabric over my back/shoulders.
