Date: 10/28/12 10:15 AM Hi,
Ive just bought a lovely 1530 but have not had any success with the needle threader. I’ve noticed a small metal prod from the middle of the slit poking out the side. Is that meant to be and if not can it be repaired?

I think you're referring to the pull-down threader on your machine.
And there's a little metal prong stickiing out the side?
I'm thinking that that's what you want to put your thread on so it can catch it and put it through the needle.
Hope this is somewhat understandable.
If this doesn't make sense to you and someone else doesn't come along and explain it better, you may want to go into your dealer's and have them show you how the threader works.

Date: 10/28/12 6:19 PM Thanks. Yes, it is the device pictured in PattyAnn's message. The metal prod is protruding out the side the plastic housing. It looks bent on the inside of the housing.
I dont think there is a pull down threader.

Date: 10/28/12 11:20 PM Take the threader to your Bernina dealer so they can take a look at it. There may be a piece that can be bent back into place.
If it is broken you can order from the dealer or the site I provided in the earlier post. Which ever is more reasonable for you. |

Date: 10/28/12 11:58 PM If this is a hand-held needle threader, there are at least a few different types. I got a style I liked from the Clotilde catalog and put them with each of my vintage machines. Basically just a wire on a stick :) ------

Date: 10/29/12 7:12 PM The one on my 1630 was missing the needle hole wire and I replaced it with a new threader that looks just like it - got it online but can't remember the site. Anyway, I like to keep the machine in as close to original condition as possible, and since this style fits into its own pocket on the ride side of the machine, this is my preference. I find the new one works fine. That other style mentioned is similar to the ones that come with Babylock sergers and some other brands, and yes, it works well too. ------
Let's just say all modern sms are well represented in my studio. |
