Okay, I just started my first Burda patterrn 8218 I did the darts-first time for that- then they say to sew the front pieces to the back piece. Okay, I get that but the instructions to sew them, matching seam numbers-seam numbers???? There are dots to match-which don't on either side-but what the heck are seam numbers? If they are the little dots, then these patterns are a little weird in the construction, because they align badly. Or at least this one does. But before I start sewing it, I wanted to make sure I understood it. Burda patterns are definitely written differently from the others I've done-which is good and bad. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not great at following instructions, but Burda Mag patterns have seam numbers, meaning there is an order of construction. Sew seam 1 together first, then sew 2, etc. They aren't dots or triangles that have to match up.

That's what I recall anyways.

I really have to follow instructions on this one, since it's the most complicated top I've ever done. But I'll read through the instructions again and see if the seam numbering thing makes sense. I think the pattern is designed for someone with more experience then I have...
Oh well, must keep on trying.

Yep, that was the right answer. Each time they tell me to match a seam, the number goes up. 'Match seam numbers2, 3, etc. Alright then, now my confusion will just be the normal construction issues. The shawl collar and such should be fun, but it's what I need for the costume. Thanks for the help!
