Is it me or are they a bit boring and uncreative?

I've been shopping around for sewing supplies and always note how horrible these websites are to browse, making it an entirely unpleasant experience to shop. Is it not important for the suppliers or is it because we the consumers don't really care? The buyer just wants to get the product their searching for then move on? I don't believe all sewists are cyber dinosaurs so why can't we have both form and function? We are supposed to be creative creatures afterall. Or maybe I've completely missed the point. I suppose at the end of the day it's about getting the best quality product as cheap as possible. Well, you get what you pay for ...

I think the worst part is the search engines. It takes me forever to find a link for that perfect sewing notion or supply item. You hit it correctly- if the site is confusing, hard to navigate, no item pictures or poorly described I leave it. Even worse- if it does compel me to browse or shop and the check-out process is tedious, requires me to set up a profile or doesn't disclose shipping, tax or handling charges before asking for my payment, I will leave.
A good example (for me) is Nancy's Notions. Whenever I browse there I stumble across some Wish List items. I like being able to View All instead of having multiple pages to wade through.
I remember a great site for Organ needles- again fully described the product and the item photo was clear enough to read package detail.
Shoppers Rule is another good example of a well laid out site.

There are lots of hideous websites for all kinds of things, sewing included. I like Bedecked which is in the UK. Small enough to browse without overload and good close ups of an interesting selection. I ordered once and the shipping to my address in the US was very reasonable and quick.
