I have a Baby Lock Ellure Plus (BLR3) and it has never wound a full bobbin. Winds about 3/4 full every time. Not the biggest deal, but it would be nice to get a full bobbin. I haven't found any way to correct this, if it's possible. I don't live close to a dealer, just curious if there's something I'm missing or if that's just the way it is.

The bobbin winder should not stop until the bobbin is full. Be sure the spool is down all the way on the bobbin winder pin.

Or, ask BabyLock customer service about this. They may tell you to take it to your nearest BL dealer for service.

I do not live close to a BL dealer either, but if there is a problem, you have to do what you have to do. Call ahead and discribe the problem. Then ask if you can make an appointment to have the machine serviced while you wait and save yourself two round trips to the dealer.

Another solution that would be about the price of a few gallons of gas, would be to purchase a Sidewinder and use it to wind the bobbins.

Thanks for the response! The spool is always all the way down, but good to know just in case. I will likely have to make an appt. sometime in the future.

I have the Brother twin to the Ellure Plus (Innovis 1250D) and it doesn't FULLY wind the bobbin either. I just assumed this was a little trait among some sm's or this particular brand or something. Mine's usually about 85 - 90% full though, but definitely not FULLY wound like some of my other machines.

If this REALLY bothers you, you can either use another machine to wind the bobbins (if you have one) or get that Sidewinder machine (wait for a sale or coupon though). It doesn't really bother me much, so I just ignore it!

My Ellisimo Gold doesn't wind a full bobbin, either... and I haven't really tried to mess with it on my own.

Instead, I have wound more embroidery thread bobbins on my Horizon while the EG was chomping away at an embroidery.

And on the Horizon, I also changed the setting on the little bumper-do-jobbie that stops the winding - I set it back a little so the bobbins would wind fuller.

Just make sure you don't overwind... the edge of the thread layers should never extend past the tops and bottom edges of the bobbin. :)

I've got a BLR2 and it doesn't fill the bobbin completely. Never has and I've never thought it was a problem.

Thinking back I don't think any machine I've ever owned has completely filled a bobbin.

Thank you all for your input! Given that I've had the machine for a year, it doesn't really bother me, it has just been one of those things that I've meant to look into to see if there is something I can do to fix it. I should have kept my cheapie Brother machine to wind bobbins for it! I know it wound bobbins full, and my Bernina does too. I'll have to look into the sidewinder, it would be handy to have for the rare brainless moments I have when I don't make sure I have extra filled bobbins when I'm embroidering.

Does it have the oval shape stopper? It's easy to unscrew it just a tad and rotate it so it doesn't stop as soon. I did this on mine and like my fuller bobbins.
