I love sewmen! OMG.. tried the camera alignment function today!

We downloaded some funky stuff from Urban Threads. Then we cut a piece of fabric, added some interfacing to it (it's going to be an outside pocket on a tote bag eventually)... Then I made cross hairs on the fabric with a chalk pencil ... Then (never done this before) I slapped a snowman sticker on the center of the fabric - matching up the cross hairs to the true *up/down* and *side to side* angles of the fabric.... And then we slapped the fabric - crooked as as all get-out (on purpose) on that hooped piece of sticky tear-away.... Plunked the hoop onto the machine and then hit the camera button. WOW! No manuals, no tryin' to figure anything out... the machine just scanned in the goofed up crooked fabric in the hoop and the snowman and aligned the embroidery perfectly on top of it. All of it was totally viewable in the display. Removed the snowman sticker... All we did, then, was to tweak the design down a half an inch so it would be a little lower on the pocket so it won't interfere with the zipper. Stitched out beautifully. OMG.. I am soooo thrilled with this machine! I had a short list of three TOL embroidery machines... The Bernina 830, the Janome 12000 and this one. This one won out because of this incredible camera feature. This was only about the 4th thing I've stitched out on it.. and first time trying the camera. Too freakin' cool... so glad I got this machine instead of the others. :) ------ nightowlsally.com On my radar someday: Babylock Serger, and some machine for travel. The Baby Lock Ellisimo will recognize it and straighten your embroidery according to the angle of the crosshairs. Awesome, awesome feature on this machine. You can use it to purposely angle lettering along a design as well. Exciting to see you loving your Ellisimo!

Date: 11/1/12 9:12 PM The design we puked out yesterday on the Ellisimo Gold (by Babylock) was this: It was almost 35,000 stitches. My young friend went nuts over the idea of putting this on a tote bag. After doing the design, I was a little bummed because it seemed the hoop rubbed on the free arm of the machine a little and made a small scuff just left of the needle plate. (I'm sooooo picky about my machines!!! So this bummed me out) When I went online to look and see if others possibly complained about this problem, I found an embroidery shield accessory that adheres (removable, tho) to the machine before you put the hoop on to protect the machine. I guess this part is relatively new - been out about 6 months. With all of the incredible goodies this machine comes with, you'd think they would include one of these so a buyer could protect their machine from the minute it comes outta the box. I digress. Anyway... I ran to the dealer and bought this shield today... so I'll probably make another design tonight.
