Hi,

I am new the forum and new to sewing. I am working on combination toddler sheets for my daughter and I am trying to figure out what types of woven fabrics are less prone to wrinkling. I have used cotton from Joanns previously (muslin and another type, don't remember) and they both wrinkled horribly.

I was doing some research and some articles said a polyester/cotton blend is less likely, but is there a certain blend percentage? I am assuming the more polyester the less likely to wrinkle, but I want a nice feel to it as well. Are there any other fabrics, appropriate for sheets, that wouldn't wrinkle?

I would also want to make sure it doesn't pill. If anyone has any insight it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

David

Joanns has some poly/cotton prints, that are often used to make 'scrubs', that don't wrinkle. Another idea is to repurpose larger sheets for the bed.
For instance my local store had twin flats poly/cotton blend sheets on sale for $3.99. I bought several extras to make the dust ruffle and pillow cases.
I also buy sheets a garage sales, I use them for muslins and if they have fun prints or high quality fabrics, I make them into other things.

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.

I don't see in your bio where you live but cotton flannel is a nice option. Bamboo, after washings, has a wonderfully soft hand. Another good choice is a natural or organic cotton knit.
I get irritated from poly blends but if you use it stay under 30%.
I like Natures Fabric and I see PR has added Sew Baby. I avoid JoAnns for fabric whenever possible-- the quality is so unpredictable.

sewing brings joy and meaning to my life...

Hi, Percale cotton makes great sheets. I would search for Percale sheet sets on line in a double or queen set and make them up from the sheet sets. I could not find a source for percale yardage. Hth.
