Wow! Uplifting update. The immediate needs for the youngsters at the school that I've been communicating with have been filled. They have received the warm clothing they needed. The school and church also received a truckload delivery of desperately needed cleaning supplies. This one (just one of many) school has shifted its focus to future concerns and needs of their recovering community.

Please continue to add any group that might have needs that could be addressed with our stitching and our hearts.

Hubbie and I have made a personal commitment to warm clothing for a set number of youngsters. I'll keep stitching. There are other youngsters and other communities; and there is home. When we finish with the goal for youngsters, I think we'll switch our focus to oldsters; it looks like it will be a rough winter.

Very happy to have updated in the first post that the school that I was communicating with has met their immediate needs for providing warm clothing for their youngsters!

Just one small group and one small school, but uplifting and happy news.

After Katrina, our Catholic elementary school joined forces with a Catholic school the was demolished during the flooding. They were so greatful. We helped them thru their re-build...almost 5 years. There are a lot of ways to help. If a person were to send them something, could it get thru to USP Service, or UPS?

Thank you Andi, I forgot to add the shipping information. Right now, Fedex is getting through (we are very happy with FedEx ground service) and the U S Post Office (bless them) is getting through.

I'll PM the other information to you.

I am doing a "Charity Sew Along". We have children living in shacks without beds. A friend has started a mattress drive. And it is amazing how many mattresses the foreign community has to give away. I am going to buy a bunch of polar fleece or pre-quilted fabric (what ever is available) and serge the edges and make blankets for them. While La Paz is fairly prosperous, we still have desperately poor families.
So, while you are working on warmth for the kids of Staten Island (bless you) I will in comradely, make some blankets for the children in Vista Hermosa.

This is so heartbreaking.. and with the snows and cold weather in the area.. its even a worse situation. I think socks are possible for most all us.. cheap enough to buy.. But I have to wonder about the time it would take to sew so many needed garments.. I have to wonder if we should hit our thrift stores for coats and gloves.. A LOT of places don't want used items.. And in that vein I urge anyone who is sending anything to make sure it is clean and not needing repair..
Keep us updated Please..
