Date: 11/7/12 11:25 PM Im looking to make some mittens - hats - of recycled wool??
I have not really seen a tutorial that I like the finished product... anyone have faves to suggest?
Thank you all who gave me tips on selling that hoard of patterns I had - I ended up listing them on craigs list and a mom of a girl who loves theater and collects patterns for fun bought them for her. I saved myself a few - just incase im ever a size 18 --- ------ Drag queen quilter! |

Date: 11/8/12 7:47 PM So you mean yardage/woven wool or sweaters? ------ My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since. |

Date: 11/8/12 9:34 PM I've seen directions for using shrunken wool sweaters. You basically cut the cuffs of the mittens along the bottom ribbed edge. Trace your hands a bit generously and add 1/4". Then you just serge up and around the thumb and hands. Some were left with the serging outside and some were turned to the inside. HEre's one or you could check out these. ------ Sewing: A creative mess is better than tidy idleness. ~Author Unknown
