Date: 11/9/12 8:26 PM With all the horrible polyesther children's pajamas out there, I'm considering making some for the kids this year and I was browsing for some nice plaids but am having a hard time finding any. Am I just way too late to be shopping for Christmas fabrics? Or is there some secret source I don't know about? I don't really want anything too juvenile or too quilty and I'll probably need around 7 yards for the three of them. ------ Melanie |

Date: 11/9/12 8:36 PM I'm not sure about online, but have you tried any local quilt shops? They usually have much better quality than the chain stores. ------ Bernina 730E, 530, and 350PE

Date: 11/10/12 4:53 AM Moda flannels are quite nice. I found this site on a search for Moda (I have not shopped here) and they appear to have a nice selection:

Date: 11/10/12 8:22 AM You can still find flannels.
I happen to absolutely love working with it and I've seen some very nice double-napped flannel at Fabric.com and at Denver Fabrics although there are fewer prints available in the double-napped. You might try Flannelworld.com too.
I'm working on a quilt right now with some luscious stuff from Henry Glass Fabrics...it is SO soft and thick, it'd make great pajamas.
Most flannels however are not rated for children's sleepwear. ------ Linda

Date: 11/10/12 8:23 AM Try flannel sheets too!
Many are heavier and marked down because they don't sell, especially
in the larger sizes. After the holidays, stock up for next year. King sizes give you a lot of fabric + pillowcases. They are good for one layer of a nice couch throw also. |

Date: 11/10/12 9:42 AM I can report that Treadle Yard Goods in St. Paul, Minnesota has a wonderful assortment of excellent quality cotton flannels, including plaids, for adults and children (I'm a longtime customer who lives in Minneapolis.) See http://treadleyardgoods.com/ . I thought they had photos of the plaid flannels on their blog but I'm not seeing any. Still, I'm sure they'll be happy to send swatches.

Date: 11/10/12 8:22 PM Omg! Flannel sheets! I'm slapping my forehead now for not thinking of it myself!
I agree that moda makes sinful flannels, they are great for me and baby girl, but not so much for the boys. I adore the prints from the vintage modern collection! If I'm honest, I was hoping to find a slightly better price per yard than quilting stuff. But I suppose you get what you pay for. I've scoured fabric.com and can't find any that I love. Thanks for the links to other flannel sites! I will check them out. ------ Melanie |
