What happens to the neckline?

I need to make the pattern for a long-sleeved T-Shirt for my fiancee larger, and havn't done this before.

I figured he needs most of the extra room at the front (and in the middle) so I have layed the pattern for the front piece on the material with it an extra 15cm away from the fold. But this enlarges the neckline (it is a round neckline)an awful lot. Is there a way to adjust this, or is it easier to increase the size of the pattern at the sides instead of the middle?

This makes your front 30 cm wider. How many sizes do you have to enlarge the tee by?

I don't know how many sizes bigger it would be as it is a pattern from a friend and she only had the LARGE size cut out and threw away the rest (it only went up to XL)

But his waist is 30cm bigger than the waist measurement on the packet for the LARGE.

You see the difference between sizes is one inch (2.5 cm) on average. The pattern is increased in several areas - armscye, neckline, length are all increased in proportion. So this pattern needs to get larger in shoulder also, not just at CF. If this pattern is so small, maybe it is easier to trace a top that fits and use it instead.

You don't want to do it this way. Add to the side seams and the sleeves so that they will still fit in the armhole. If the neck is too small you can always cut it larger later.

I think adding to the side seams sounds easier - and I will use one of his shirts to get an idea of the size. Thank you so much :)
