Date: 11/13/12 11:00 AM I am really into the printed jeans that are everywhere, that look like a lace print. Has anyone seen it on any of the web sites to purchase? ------ Sew for fun |

1 member likes this. Date: 11/13/12 5:41 PM why not take your denim or twill and do a dye or bleach job? Lay the lace on the fabric where you have rough drawn the out line of the pants with chalk and spray bleach or dye on it then lift of lace. You can use lace, paper doilies, reg. doilies, stencils or self cut stencils. I don't know ehre the fabrics are like that but I always say, "I'll it myself and I'll make it my own." ------ JanieV |

Date: 11/14/12 6:29 AM That is such an interesting idea about using spray bleach over a design! I have more pairs of jeans I've been collecting in my fabric stash over the years and have been wondering what to do with them. I've had this idea of refashioning some long maxi skirts, mini skirts, denim bags, etc., but I absolutely love the idea of the spray bleach for a mini skirt for both my college-aged daughters. Very unique!
Thank you! ------ Big 4 Pattern size 12, RTW bottom: 6, RTW jacket 8, RTW top (no size fits me well!)

Date: 11/14/12 7:02 AM you can also spray paint ( lightly) using lace as a stencil. You have to let the aint cure for a day and then heat set it...either by dryer or by iron...but it works...I have done it not on denim but on a synthetic knit.

Date: 11/14/12 3:44 PM Great idea, I would probably have better luck with the paint.
But, I am also going to try the bleach also. Thanks to all of your for these great ideas. ------ Sew for fun |

Date: 11/14/12 7:44 PM If you go the bleach discharge route, you need to do it outside because of ventilation, and if you don't want to got that route, which sounds very interesting, Mood has a couple of printed denims that might appeal to you.
denim
There's a flocked one as well.
I like the paint idea better than the bleach. It will give you a crisper print -- Edited on 11/14/12 7:46 PM -- ------ www.nancyksews.blogspot.com |

Date: 11/15/12 12:28 PM I think a print stenciled on would be great. You used to be able to buy paper with dye imbued in it and you could cut out shapes and iron on the dye. But I am old and that's probably an antique item now! ------ JanieV |

Date: 11/15/12 12:55 PM Liquid dishwasher detergent works well with stencils due to it's viscosity and is easier to control when applying, also clorox bleach pens. ------ 61sew4fun |
