Does anyone know anything about these? It seems that no more are being made? Or maybe they're somewhere else on the web that I don't know about?

Thank you, CM! I think I wasn't precise enough in my wording. I was wondering about whether Leah Day herself would be continuing this series of videos. It looks like she isn't continuing this series. But at least there are plenty of reviews throughout the web for other good under-$500 machines!

Oh! NOW I see what you were asking!

None-the-less, the Janome HD-1000 seems like an very good choice in that price range.

Subject: Leah Days under-$500 machine reviews? Date: 11/14/12 6:32 AM

I have used Amazon since mid 90's but much more cautious now. They offer products at prices based on how they aquire them. For the past 6 years I have had to return too many bad products. I suspect they are buying poor quality, seconds, who knows?
I have found the picture and product description and what arrives at my door to not always match up.
I understand how important it is to shop around but be ready to return or accept what they ship. Think about having to deal with them if it is not what you thought you ordered, doesn't work, doesn't work like you think it should or stops working in the next 30-90 days.
The good dealers charge higher prices because they stand by their product, education on use and customer relationship.

Oh that's okay! (I also enjoyed those reviews, as I'm considering the HD1000 or the HD3000.) (Or the Bernette 15. . .but that's another story.)

Absolutely, SandiMacD! I agree with you. I basically just order books from Amazon. I prefer to buy from a dealer, as I did for my Bernette a number of years ago. I did end up needing to order a Janome from an online dealer, which was fine. But I've since found a (somewhat) nearby Janome dealer and, even more exciting to me, a Bernina dealer who carries the Bernette line which I like (and perhaps more to the point as well, can afford). So I've got two very good options - - under $500, or just thereabouts.

I didn't realize the Bernette line was still around. I got one 25+ years ago and haven't seen them since that dealer retired.

I believe Leah hasn't reviewed any more of this level of machine because she has fallen in love with her Horizon and has not had time for much other than her class on Craftsy, her blog and quilting and etc., and etc.She is one busy little woman for sure. I would love to see her review machines as an ongoing thing, but she would need access to a dealer relationship or something like that to use machines long enough to review them.

Bernette 65 here (also long story), and i think i've finally settled on the HD3000
it's the tangleproof bobbin and fact you can run right off fabric that is selling me :)
but i've been waffling between the two for awhile as well
