Does anyone know where I can find a 9" kelly green separating zipper? I found a 14" but I am not sure how to shorten a separating zipper.

If it's a metal zipper you can shorten it. You shorten from the top, removing the stops carefully so that you can put them back on. Using a knippers you cut of the excess zipper teeth.

If it's plastic molded you do the the same way as metal, except for the stops. If it's coil, I cut it a little longer than needed and fold the top underneath and stitch.

I've never successfully shortened a zipper either without destroying it. Somewhere there was a thread about which are the best zippers to buy and someone posted some links to shops. I'll try to find them again and post here.

I would probably mess it up. Look what I found. I decided to pop over to Amazon.com and came across
this. I snapped it up.

ZipperStop (AKA A.Feibusch)--those guys are great!
I've been buying zippers from them for years. I've had the YKK color chart for about 5 years, and will go through and match all my upcoming projects and order a bunch at one time. They can also do custom lengths.

Dontcha just love it when that happens?! Who'd have guessed that you'd be able to find precisely the right type and color?
