I have been debating on a secondary machine for a few weeks now. I want it mechanical and bells & whistles are not important to me.
May take it to sewing get-togethers when I don't need the features of my Ellisimo.
Just want to be able to turn to it and sew a seam.
Want to be able to let my visiting young ones sew on it (ages 6-10).
Want power in the foot pedal to zip through seam layers say on a canvas table cover.
For example, if I have a brown thread in my Ellisimo and it's tweaked to do a tote with batting and I just want to repair a seam on white cotton blouse handed to me will this machine do that without feed dogs eating fabric?
I found the BL9 on sale right now- only one PR review, very positive.
Is it really noisey? Does anyone else own/use it? Any thoughts appreciated.
Sandi
PS
Am still considering the Molly but only because of the needle threader and $250+ more for that seems a bit too high.

My mom recently purchased the BL-9 as a back-up machine and to take to classes. It is a very basic machine -- she has had no issues with it. The bobbin is not a drop-in bobbin. My mom's main machine is a Bernina so she was okay with the machine not having a drop-in bobbin.

Thanks. I grew up on a Singer 301 and owned a Bernina 430- both rotary and both very good stitching.
Sounds like the BL9 is a good value.
