Date: 11/16/12 7:20 PM My sewing room is always in a state of flux! Since some of my previous posts, I have added several new machines and other equipment and now I have to reassess my situation. This is my current plan.
In my living room, I will keep the antique oak treadle sewing cabinets with their Singer Sphinx 127 and Singer Lotus 127 sewing machines. They will not live in the sewing room proper because I will not be using them on a regular basis if at all, and that will make room for the machines I do use. They are heirloom sentimental machines.
In the sewing room, I will have my "new" free 1970s era Sears Kenmore sewing machine cabinet with my Necchi Lelia 515 machine that I will use for buttonholes exclusively.
There also will be my Elna SP 33C cabinet sewing machine and my mother's Nelco J A -38 sewing machine in cabinet. These are my "go to" straight and zig zag everyday machines.
The sewing room also will hold my Pfaff 1473 CD and my Viking 6030 sewing machines.
I will sell my Rotary straight stitch sewing machine, my Janome, and my Singer 603E Touch and Sew with all of its many attachments on Yahoo's Sewitsforsale site. I don't need them and the money will go to more goodies for my Viking 6030 [I want to buy more cams and feet].
All of this moving around will leave me with the 6 Elna Lotus/Stella sewing machines I use for my Children's classes; my Necchi Lelia 515, my Nelco JA -38, my Elna SP 33C, Viking 6030, and my Pfaff 1473 CD.
Is this a workable situation? What do you guys think? -- Edited on 11/16/12 9:27 PM -- ------ Six Elna Lotus/Stella sm [kid's sewing classes]

Date: 11/16/12 9:05 PM I have to say this is so funny because today I am obsessed with these same thoughts - can i fit another sewing table into this room for another machine I want up at all times....it is a perennial thought - and sometimes involves me thinking I am going to sell sewing machines but I never do that - at least not for awhile. Always worth thinking about fitting in more machines...ah....yes. Good luck with it all! ------ "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

In the sewing space I'm setting up, I have two machines in cabinets -- my mom's Singer 15-91 and a Bernina Record 830.
My Arrow Gidget table is for whichever of my sundry other machines I feel like stitching on -- Featherweight, Activa, Bernina 807 minimatic, Kenmore 16XX, or the Bernette 330 with the perfect 3-step zigzag. I like the flexibility.
The sergers and coverstitch machine have their own table. I only have two of them out at a time. |
