I was thinking about this today after reading about Clotillde passing away. Who are the rising starts of the sewing world?
A number of the stars of the current sewing world are getting close to retirement age and I was wondering who will replace them.

I hope there will be a lot more sewing classes on line. It does seem to be the wave of the future..

I am seeing LOTS of young fresh faces, at Craftsy and at the ASG convention. Many new faces appearing. I have no idea of who will stick around, but it is very nice to see that many younger ladies and gents are stepping up!

Bloggers, likely. Gertie and the gal from Sew Weekly both were unknowns before they started blogging. And it seems like there are several indie pattern companies started recently that are very online-savvy: Colette and Sewaholic are the two that come to mind first.

There are also a lot of younger textile designers out there designing fabric, primarily quilt cottons. The modern quilt guild got started only a few years ago and is a huge worldwide concern now.

It's hard to say. I have yet to see a celeb sewing blogger under 35 who has the skills to fill some of the emptying shoes out there. Now have I seen bloggers under 35 who are incredible sewists? You bet, but they just aren't out there marketing themselves. I think one with a lot of potential is Marina of "Frabjous Couture". She truly wants her work done well and with good skills and has taken the time to educate herself to get that way. She also has a wonderful sense of fashion. It goes without saying that she is gorgeous and articulate as well. She would be my choice.
