is it true that kenmore sewing machines are going to be no more?

do you know who will take their place?

are their any other good "work horses" that give you that bang for the buck?

thanx

I think the most recent Kenmores in the last decade or two were just Janome's in Kenmore clothing.

You might wanna start your search there.

It is true. I was sad about that, too. I agree with the previous poster, that since Janome was making those wonderful Kenmore's anyway, that is a good starting point. I actually bought my daughter a Magnolia 7318 and she's been very happy with it. As far as "heavy duty," I have been reading a lot about the Janome HD1000 and 3000. The reviews on Amazon's site for them are positive. So they might be a possible consideration for you. I've also read about the Singer Heavy Duty 4411 and 4423, but I'm not as sure, as the reviews don't seem as consistently positive.

Overstock.com has the Janome 3000 & Sewist 500 both right at the moment. The prices are higher than Kenmore's were but both of these are suppose to be very good machines. .....

I was wanting a reliable back up sewing machine for when my one isn't available or getting serviced. just need straight stich, zig zag and maybe a handful of functional stitches.

Oh ...what about the Janome 2212? I have one & I really like it. Very nice stitch, sturdy too, handles fabrics well.

My local paper is carrying an ad for Tuesday Morning holiday treasure hunt beginning Nov 23 at 8 a.m featuring a Kenmore model 19106 for $59.99. Any takers? Has this machine received good reviews here on PR? Ad states you save 60%.
