Oh, it is very sad to hear the lovely independent fabric store Sew It Seams in St. Louis is closing:

" I have decided to close the store. We will be open till the end of the year with different sales going on every week. The first sale will be 25% off almost everything in the store starting Sat., Nov. 24 through Sat., Dec. 1. Come in early to get the best selection."

If I were a sewing machine, all I would have to do is lift up my foot and all my tension would be gone.

Sewing with my lovelies: Pfaff Ambition 1.5 (Pfoxxy), Kenmore 385.19365 (Kenny), Babylock Imagine and BLCS, 3 brothers (PE150 aka Gary, 1034D aka Scott and 2340V aka Darrell -- named for my three brothers), and the Singer quartet (Rosemary the 401a, Judy the 15-88, Ella the 15-91 and Bessie the 128)

I live in North Carolina but visit Sew It Seams every time I visit family in St. Louis. She has lovely fabrics that I cannot find in the "big box" fabric stores where I live. I will miss this shop!

I remember when she opened and I was delighted to have her and Eunice Farmer's store within a short distance of our house. At that point, it appeared Eunice was focusing more on machines which displaced fabric space. Then Eunice started carrying more quilting fabric and her store seemed so much different. But Sew it Seams picked up the fashion fabric slack and I loved it.

Then we moved away to a place not as fabric-store endowed. Don't you hate to see these wonderful independent stores close? We had two fantastic stores close in the last year in Michigan ... Bummer.

Wish I was going to St. Louis before the end of the year.

I used to live in St. Louis and have many fond memories of shopping there for fabric, especially when it was in Ladue. Bought my 1st Babylock there and took a baby quilt making class as well as many others. I am very sad to know that the store is closing and I hope that the other independent stores can hold it together and stay in business during this government control over small business.

I believe you're thinking of Eunice Farmer, not Sew It Seams.
