I'm making a pair of Burda pants and the fly zipper has a facing that is sewn on. I was instructed to cut that pattern piece 3 times.

I'm having a hard time visualizing the instructions and there aren't any diagrams.

Does anyone know of a tutorial?

I'm tempted to just put the zipper in the side and call it done.

Mary, do you have any Vogue patterns by the designer Issy Miyake? I know he's not known for his pants, but his model pant seems to be that same tailored pant with a zip with a cut0on facing like you describe. Look through your patterns, and if you'd like me to scan mine (I'm making my first fly-front zip pant in his pattern right now, as it happens) for the directions/visuals I will. but you look first for one of his patterns in your stash (or a similar pant). Sorry, but after sitting through the entire Gone With the Wind tonight, on TCM, I'm beat!. This zipper opens on the left, like a man's, by the way. A friend in my pants class has a different Miyake pattern, and the pants are the same: opening on the man's side.
Let me know,
Regards,

Thank you both so much!

I apologize for posting and running - I was trying to finish these up before leaving town to join my family in Tennessee for Thanksgiving.

I think I see it now. Meanwhile I took the easy way out and just put in a side zipper. I'm going to use some muslin and learn how to do this zipper. These Burda pants are wonderful and they deserve a great fly zipper!
