I am a "born again" sewer. When my son was born ten years ago I purchased a starter Janome for 500 dollars. I have sewn randomly over the last ten years and I am ready for an upgrade. I went to the local sewing center to "look". Long story short I walked out the new owner of the Ellegante3 and the Imagine. I got the both for 5000 dollars, with the thread package, foot package, classes, Babylock gold club, software, etc. I am having huge buyers remorse. I don't embroider. Although, I do love a monogram, I have never been into embroidery. I have looked at other machines and for the money, it is a great deal. However, will I use it? Should I anticipate growing into it? For 5000 dollars I want to feel confident I will fall in love. When he was "selling" me I only understood half of what he was telling me about. Most of the sales pitch was about embroidery. I have sewn home dec and clothes for my 6 year old daughter...dresses, pant sets, PJ's, etc.

Well congratulations on your purchases! You will LOVE the serger, I have never regretted buying my Imagine 2 years ago....the air threading is the most amazing invention ever made IMHO!! If you don't use the embroidery right away, you will probably give it a try at some point. It is not an inexpensive hobby though! I think you made a good deal on all that you received for the one price. Make sure and take all the classes available to you. You will not regret that at all and it will make you appreciate your machines and what they can do. I just took a serger class a few weeks ago (any serger, not just for one particular brand) and I learned so much! I had been using a serger for many years and still learned things. I love classes, I always find something I either forgot or something new. Embrace it and don't regret!!!

You will grow into embroidery. I too wanted just a sewing machine but it came with letters. Too quickly I realized that to do any decent monogram, my machine needed to embroider. Who knew? So when it came time to upgrade I got a combo sewing and embroidering. It is a joy to sew on.
I am much more into sewing but the times that I do want to add a special something, I can do it.
I am sure an Ellegante user will post about the benefits of this machine. As for the Imagine- you will soon wonder how you ever got along without it. Your time will seem cut in half on many projects and you will feel proud of your finished and clean seams.
And that's a great price to boot!
sewing brings joy and meaning to my life...

It sounds like you got a wonderful deal. There's nothing to compare with a BL serger with JetAir!
Also, like you, I bought a machine that was over my head (way over). I wanted to learn machine embroidery but it wasn't something I thought I'd use very much. Well, it is so easy to get addicted to the embroidery work. So much fun!
Take any classes offered and start using your beautiful new machines. You'll be in love before you know it!

If you're feeling buyer's remorse, I'm guessing it's because you're also feeling overwhelmed.
Bringing home one of these gives a person *a lot* to learn and play with... bringing home two probably feels like a bit too much for you at this moment.
Just plug in one of them... and start to play. Go enjoy each new feature and gizmo.
You got yourself some great equipment. You shouldn't be feeling remorseful about that, at all... you can be confident that you didn't choose poorly!
Go have some fun with it all...
