Date: 11/25/12 7:49 AM Does anyone have any experience with this fabric? I am looking to get more washable fabrics for everyday pants, skirts, and jackets. I've been eying several of FM's poly/rayon suitings and wonder how they wear and feel. The website says the fabric has 4-way stretch. Has anyone had any problems with this?

Thanks much.

Date: 11/25/12 8:53 AM I ordered some of their poly rayon lycra recently. It said dry clean only. Which was not going to happen, so I washed it on a cool setting and dried it in the dryer. Perfect, no wrinkles and if it shrunk, it was minimal. Really think it will wear well. Oh I just looked at your sample it looks the same without the dry clean only listing. Maybe that was a mistake. The piece I ordered was brown but same fiber content.

Date: 11/25/12 1:29 PM It's know on these boards as RPL. Do a search and you will find nearly 2 pages about it. However, some are about RPL knit, which is just ponte knit. However, if they are talking about woven, then it's the same stuff you are asking about. ------ Visit my blog at http://sewingsaga.blogspot.com

Date: 11/25/12 5:45 PM Nan Kay: Thank you for the information. It sounds like machine washing won't be a problem.
Sherril Miller: I know about RPL knits and was curious about the particular fabric sold by Fabric Mart. Thank you for the info. |

Date: 11/25/12 7:56 PM I got some RPL from FabricMart last April. Their stock changes frequently so I don't know if it's the same as the one you're looking at. The fabric I got has been wonderful for pants. It sews and washes beautifully and absolutely does not wrinkle. I don't understand why the one you're considering is labeled "four way stretch". The RPL I got is a stretch woven. Four way stretch to me indicates more of a knit. Maybe you should call and ask them--their customer service is wonderful. My experience with FabricMart is that they do not sell junk. |

Date: 11/27/12 12:52 PM Thank you for the info, Shana. I ordered some anyway and am awaiting its arrival. I can always send it back if it's not what I want. I'll update this thread with more thoughts once I get the fabric. |
