Here's a picture of the usb cable.

This cable stille works. I had it to the machine doctor twice.
So I'm asking someone here what is going on.
Here's the second picture of what comes up on the machine.
I have tried the regular pfaff embroidery cards and they work just fine. I even look to see if there is any bent prongs that fit into the usb and regular cards. Nothing wrong.
But I'm getting this.

the pfaff dealer said there is nothing for it to rewrite or to deactivate. It just a usb card.
The computer say's no Communication with the machine. But there is comnuication.
So I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this.
I also defaulted the machine to the setting that was set before. Still nothing.
There is nothing wrong with the usb cable.
There has to be a computer something. Help!!!!!!!!!!
It was in twice so i know the machine is working just fine.

Unfortunately I saw several of these when I worked for a multi-line dealer. Nine times out of ten the cord/card combo was bad and if the Pfaff cards are working then it is not the card slot. There is no way to repair it. Replacements for these cables are getting VERY hard to find as Pfaff is no longer supporting the 2140/2170 series as far as parts or software goes. If you have a long time Pfaff dealer in your area, they may have a new cord left over in parts or may have a used one from a trade-in or unrepairable machine otherwise you are probably out of luck

I'm going off memory but do your stand alone cards work in the card slot, just so you can rule out the machine.

Has your computer been upgraded or any of your drivers changed?

if you can't get a new card or cable then you might be able to find a reader/writer box that will work with your computer to get designs to the machine
