Hi! I'm looking for fabric that looks like this. It's furry but not like the usual polyester faux fur stuff.... Does anyone know what this is called and/or where I should look? I've been on fabric.com and fabricmartfabrics.com and wasn't able to find anything like this...
THank you!!!

2 members like this. Date: 11/29/12 1:35 PM I think you want to look for sherpa fleece. There's a fleece shearling also, but I think that usually has a faux suede finish on the other side and is intended for coats, slippers and boots. |

Date: 11/29/12 1:43 PM I used something similar to that to make reindeer a few years ago. It is a faux fur and I got mine at Joann's, by the yard. In a brick and mortar store, not online. It's just a matter of finding something that has a close texture.
Depending on the size pieces you need you could try looking at the smaller faux fur pieces in the craft section if you're only doing say one or two. I was doing ten so I needed yardage!

Date: 11/29/12 6:05 PM Hi wanabelle100- it looks like "Berber Fleece" to me. It's available from the outdoor fabric stores like The Rain Shed. An eco-option for a craft project like this is to look for a fleece jacket or pullover in a similar fleece from a second-hand clothing store.
Happy sewing! |

Date: 11/29/12 11:18 PM Doggie beds would be ok but you might rethink the socks. It's not particularily soft to the touch! Regular fleece or minky would be better.
