Because I want one! LOL I want to buy used. i sew with lots of knits and I'm tired of all of my tips and tricks for necklines and hems! I want a nice, non-stretched out, easy over the seams (my hardest part even with all of my tips and tricks) and decorative option

Babylock. BLCS2.

Auto tensions, perfect stitches.

Couldn't pry mine outta my hands for nuthin'. In fact, when I go, I'm taking it with me.

I'm not sure I'm bonding with my Janome CoverPro 1000. It's much better than a regular sewing machine, but I haven't figured out the going over seams part very well. I get skips a lot. Also, my hems tend to unravel in the laundry after awhile.......a long while.....I keep my clothes forever. The unravelling is probably due to the skipped stitches over the side seams. Many love the Janomes, so it's probably user error, or the fabrics I'm choosing.

After all of my research I ended up with the Babylock BLCS. It was alot of money but I love it. The reviews on coverstitch machines are very helpful.

I agree. Babylock BLCS. When I decided to get a cover stitch standalone, I automatically ordered a Bernina. But in reading these sites and especially Debbie
Cook's blogs, I realized how much nicer it would be to have jet threading (of the looper) and the option of 3-thread hems. So luckily the Bernina Store let me off the hook with my order and I got my beloved Babylock. It sews like a dream come true. No skipped stitches (as I had read about in Janome reviews) and so easy to use. I highly recommend.

Can you stitch off the fabric like you can with the Evolution?

I used to have an Elna serger that also did the coverstitch. It was a great machine for regular serger applications, but would skip stitches on the coverstitch. Drove me crazy.
I bought a Babylock Evolution just to see what the fuss was all about; not because I needed an "easier to thread" serger.

And now I am a convert. It stitches flawlessly. Every time.

Most everyone mentions the "easy to thread" jet-air threading of the Babylocks, but the real key advantage to them is their auto tensions for perfect stitching.

Love love love my BL serger & coverstitch machines!
