I was pretty happy with the diamonds and happy with the strips.
BUT - making the black pieces to fill int he edges -- MESS! I hated that part.
Ill make another star - but, I will buy a new template and make a 40 degree diamond instead od a 60 degree diamond then Ill have an 8 point start with simple triangles to fill out the rest.
Then it will be simple.
This one was a PIA -- to finish. ------ Drag queen quilter! |

Date: 12/2/12 0:55 AM My internet got messed up this week - (someone has been having a good time with cable on my dime across town and they cut off mine b/c "I" have not been paying my bill at my other house. Im not happy about any part of that mess.. I guess someone liked my identity enough to steal it.) - but, Ive been quilting like crazy. have been checking in at coffee shops.
I love this quilt - and love the black background - its really a nice quality wool pin stripe. It looks great with the quilt. And the quilting is wild and fun - nothing serious.
Thanks for the compliment you! Hope to chat with everyone soon. ------ Drag queen quilter! |

Date: 12/2/12 3:52 AM That is AWESOME! Wow, it really pops!
The setting triangles on those are a booger, I know. I'm resentfully working on a broken lonestar myself right now, and keep setting it aside to work on things that are more fun. ------ Bernina Artista 630 ✂ Bernina Aurora 430 ✂ Bernina 1300MDC ✂ Babylock BLCS ✂ APQS Millennium ✂ Juki TL2010Q ✂ Singer 201-2 ✂ Singer 301 ✂ Singer 401A ✂ Singer 15-91 ✂ Singer Featherweight 222K ✂ Singer Featherweight 221

2 members like this. Date: 12/2/12 8:17 AM I love it. You see the star immediately, but the cool part is the almost circles you see in the middle because of the piecing strips. It makes for a very interesting optical illusion that makes your eye travel all over the quilt. Nice job. ------ Sewing: A creative mess is better than tidy idleness. ~Author Unknown

1 member likes this. Date: 12/2/12 8:42 AM I did not count the diamonds - I made enough for a star with 8 points - 200 - but, my star only has 6 points -
Each strip has 5 diamonds - each section has 5 strips and there are 6 of sections -- Im bad at math. Is that 150?
I also noticed the circle that tricks the eye -- I quilted one giant circle from the center all the way to the outside to help with that trick of the eye.
The setting blocks are enough to make a person like me crazy - I had my fill of it - I wont do it again unless i make an 8 point start and only have to make triangles.
(maaaaaybe I could applique the entire outside onto a foundation -- LOL)
