I just moved to the Douglasville, GA area and I'm hoping that this close to Atlanta, international pattern magazines are available at local newsstands. Anyone know where I can buy Burdastyle and the like? I'm interested in finding fabric stores as well, but those are pretty easy to find online. THANKS!

Hi first post here, but I am near Douglasville, and would love to know where to buy Burda also. Any good fabric stores close would be great too.

Oh and welcome to GA, it's a great place to live.

Sandy

Wait just realized this is my second post.

I live in Atlanta and I used to see Burda at Borders occasionally but since Borders has closed, I have not seen them at any store.

As for Fabric Stores, Gail K has more fabric than you could possibly believe a store of it's size could hold. Nice buttons too. Not at all convenient to you, but if you ever find yourself in it's neighborhood you should stop by and take a look.

Thanks for the info Speech girl, I'll have to check out Gail K's.
When I lived in Greenville, SC I could find Burdas at Books A Million, but that was several years ago and I have not seen them at any other BAMs.

Is Gail K's in a "safe" part of town (for a woman traveling by herself)? I go to Marietta frequently but haven't ventured to other areas by myself.

It depends, sometimes I think driving anywhere in Atlanta is taking a huge risk. I've lived here five years and still haven't gotten to Gail K or Whipstich, only driven by while riding in a car with my husband, he was working and couldn't stop.

It would be so nice if we could get a better fabric place out here in our part of town. One of these days I'm just gonna have to schedule a whole day of just sewing shopping, if I can brave that Atlanta traffic by myself.

I would consider it fine -- I go there alone and used to take my youngest with me when he was a toddler. But I live and work inside the Perimeter so I am used to it. I did once go to an Elna dealer and had to drive through the dodgiest neighborhood I'd ever seen in Atlanta . . .
