Date: 12/4/12 1:28 PM I decided to dip my toe into machine embroidery by purchasing the PE500. So far, so cute. But now, of course, I am not happy with the thing loaded on my machine but want to download.
Edited to delete my question. I found the answer in the manual. Off to look at all the wonderful downloads available -- Edited on 12/4/12 1:46 PM -- |

Date: 12/4/12 1:52 PM HI Kathy,
Your machine comes with a cable that needs to plug into your machine at one end and then into your computer at the other end.
First, you need to download a design in PES format into a folder that you have created in your computer. Once it is in your computer, you have to connect your machine up with your computer. Then, you have to find where you put your design in the computer. There should be a computer or cable icon that you need to click that is on your embroidery machine. At this point, you should be able to see your design on the screen and then you can set up your embroidery machine and embroider like you would any design that is already in your machine. The directions to upload from your harddrive are in the manual. You must remember to unzip files before sending them to the machine. You may want to google and find a free program so that you can see the designs that you have downloaded from the internet. I hope this helps you. Harriet |

Date: 12/4/12 2:07 PM Before downloading design files, create a folder on your computer's hard drive or a removable flash drive.
Name the folder so it can be easily found.
As you download, save to this folder.
Most downloads are going to be compressed or zipped to reduce download time. These files have to be unzipped, opened or extracted (depending on the wording used by your computer's operating system).
Once opened/unzipped/extracted, save the file and rename if necessary. Delete the zipped file.
Be sure the downloads are within the size of your machine's maximum embroidery area.
The format should be .pes. But if you find a design that does not come in .pes, it may be converted. Wilcom TrueSizer is a software that offers free conversion and can be downloaded, also free.
To view your designs you will need a catalog program. Embrilliance Thumbnailer is about the least expensive and can be downloaded. This vendor is offering Embrilliance Essentials and Thumbnailer for the best price I have been able to find. Allbrands would be next, but is not offering a combo package.
If your folder is on the computer's hard drive, be sure to back it up every time you make changes to the files or add new files. You can do this with a flash drive (they are sold every where) or on a CD. The flash drive will hold more files. This is a safeguard against loosing your design files should the computer crash.

Date: 12/5/12 7:53 AM Congrats on the new machine. Back when I started I didn't have internet and all the advice and not many around here had these machines. Now so many are using them so you can get lots of help and info online if you ask. I don't know if there is a yahoo group on this machine but I joined the ones for my specific machines and read a lot when I was starting out. There is a forum also over at all brands where a lot of text and free designs get posted which is really helpful for those just starting out. Hope it is ok to post this if not the mod can remove.
