Date: 12/5/12 6:38 PM I live in Hawaii.
I just got my Brother PE-500 and was so excited...
Few days after I ordered the machine I also ordered 40 spools of thread.
It seems like I won't get it for another week or so, so I decided to get some threads from the store... Well, if I can find any!!
None of the craft stores here sells machine embroidery threads.
Even a big fabric store doesn't carry it.
One sewing machine dealer carried the spools, which was $7/spool!!
I'm not spending $35 just to get one design with 5 colors.
I guess I just need to wait for the delivery...

Date: 12/5/12 6:50 PM Why not use cotton thread? I have used cotton thread for many years in my machine; I liked it because it didn't have a shine. And it was normal sewing thread. I've even "saved the day" by bringing out some Gutermann poly thread because I didn't have it in cotton in the same color. ------ "We don't impose our rhythm on Nature. Date: 12/5/12 7:02 PM I've used cotton as well when I wanted a matt finish. I've used silk as well besides the usual rayon and poly with no problems. |

Date: 12/6/12 2:53 PM The thread doesn't have to be "embroidery" thread, as long as it is a lighter weight. a 40 to 60 weight would work. You can just use a regular size spool.
Check the fabric store again. You are not likely to find it at a Michaels though. |

Date: 12/6/12 4:53 PM Thank you.
I tried it with all purpose thread and it was fine.
I guess that'll do until I get the set.
