It depends on the fibre - silk or rayon brocade is likely to be more delicate than polyester. Rayon/viscose does tend to shrink and if you have mixed fibres you might get differential shrinkage. Many brocades, especially in synthetic fibres, should wash with no problems. Some brocades have metallic threads that may catch and fray if washed in the machine. And some have long loose threads on the wrong side of the fabric that might catch and pull in the wash. It may also depend on the colour - if there are different colours you need to be sure that colours are fast and won't bleed and run into each other. Why not try washing a swatch - measure it before and after to check shrinkage - and see how it stands up to the process?

You also may want to finish the raw edges. Some brocades tend to be shreddy. If you don't own a serger a wide zigzag along the edge of each piece may save you from tearing your hair out later on.
