Facings VS Linings

Date: 12/7/12 8:58 AM Hi, I am making a couple of simple pencil skirts, and I am wondering what the pros and cons of facings around the waist vs just linings and twill tape. I want my skirts to last a long time and they will get a lot of wear so I want them to be very stable. or I could to both....? Any input would be appreciated

Date: 12/7/12 9:34 AM I usually line to the edge with dresses but if I'm making a pencil skirt without a waistband I always use facings now. I made a few pencil and A-line skirts where I lined to the edge and unfortunately they rotated a lot during movement. Date: 12/7/12 7:07 PM I've used both methods and like facing the waist with petersham instead of using facings. It's such a quick and simple method that can easily be customized to your waist measurement. I've used the method on both lined and unlined skirts. I wrote a blog post detailing how I do it.
