Date: 12/10/12 9:57 AM The waist and the legs , not the hip,of the pants on the pattern are too wide. Where should I narrow it in order to get the best result ?Form the outside seams, inside seams or in the middle of the pants legs?
Please give suggestions for alter on the pattern and on the RTW pants. Thanks in advance! |

Date: 12/10/12 11:35 AM My recommendation is to make a muslin. With the seams to the outside, pinch out the extra fabric until you have the desired fit. At the waist, some could come from the sides and depending on your shape, possibly by increasing the dart width. The legs can be decreased on the outside first and then, depending on the crotch fit, could be taken out in the inseam. Hope this helps.

Date: 12/10/12 11:47 AM There is a demo you can watch for the Pivot and Slide Technique. You would use the hip as the pivot point to alter the waist by moving the pattern toward center.
Or, taper in each seam allowance from the hip up through the waist.
For the legs, you need to keep the straight of grain. Taper in just a bit at each seam.
