Date: 12/15/12 9:14 AM I have a very small craft project to complete -- I'm making a Waldorf doll for my daughter for Christmas and finishing her with Kidassia goat hair so I have to make a dolls wig out of the goat skin - it's only a small sewing project. Will I be fine with a universal needle, or do I need to go buy something else? I live 1/2 from the nearest store to pick up needles so I was hoping I could get away with what I have on hand. I'm on Juki F300. Thanks for your input. |

I do sew leather and find that a leather needle is essential for the heavier types. Goat skin may be light enough to use a regular needle, maybe a 90 or 100. Try a small scrap first, you may have to adjust tension on top and/or bobbin. The trouble is you have one shot, the holes will be made and will not go away if you make a mistake so test it for tension first. Best wishes with your project. ------ http://silkmothsewing.blogspot.com/ |
