Our newest member of the family. My husband calls her the devil dog. I call her the energizer bunny dog! She was born October 9th. |

Date: 12/16/12 11:08 AM We adopted a new puppy on Dec. 8 from a local rescue. Her parents were a malti-poo and a yorkie. She is now 14 weeks old and as precious as she can be.
I had forgotten how tiring potty training is--- for the humans. So far she is doing well with it immediately after waking up. The rest is pure chance. I take her outside at least every hour she is awake, or when I think she is about to pee. She gets praise immediately after she finishes.
We have her on a feeding schedule, which she had never had before, so I'm hoping her body will be a bit more predictable after another week or two. Until then, lots of paper towels and Nature's Miracle.
One thing that is harder about house training small dogs than larger dogs like our golden, Annabelle, is that the little ones can run into smaller spaces where you can't see what they're up to.
She's a bright little thing and is responding well to clicker training for attention and laying down.
Our biggest issue at the moment is managing play between Clara, the puppy, and Annabelle, the 8 y.o. golden. ------ Elizabeth |

Remember that labs and goldens stay puppies longer...till about 8 yrs or so...then they're big puppies.
Have fun with Sophie - awww. ------ I try all things. I achieve what I can. "Moby Dick"

Date: 12/16/12 7:01 PM She's adorable. Personally I wouldn't have another puppy if gold dusted came out of their butt. I thought potty training accidents and chewing everything in the house were going to put me in the funny farm. Now she's a swett 13 year old girl and I couldn't love her more. ------ Joe in New Albany, iN |
